What is Ayurveda?

WHAT IS AYURVEDA?⠀ Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest holistic healh systems. It was developed more than 5,000 years ago in India.⠀ It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit. Its main goal is to promote good health which in course may assist in preventing/eliminating disease. Treatments may be geared toward specific health problems.⠀

Everything in the universe is connected. If your mind, body, and spirit are in harmony with the universe, you have good health. When something disrupts this balance, you get sick.

Among the things that can upset this balance can be genetic, injuries, climate and seasonal change, age, and your emotions.⠀

Every person is made of five basic elements found in the universe: space, air, fire, water, and earth.⠀ These combine in the human body to form three life forces or energies called Doshas. They control how your body works. They are Vata (space and air); Pitta (fire and water); and Kapha (water and earth).⠀ Everyone inherits a unique mix of the 3 doshas, one is usually stronger than the others. Each one controls a different body function. It’s believed that your chances of getting sick — and the health issues you develop — are linked to the balance of your doshas.⠀

Vata ⠀ Those who practice Ayurveda believe this is the most powerful of all 3 doshas. It controls your mind, breathing, blood flow, heart function and ability to get rid of waste. ⠀ If Vata is your main life force, you may develop conditions like anxiety, asthma and rheumatoid arthritis as well as bowel problems.⠀

Pitta⠀ This energy controls your digestion, metabolism (how well you break down foods).⠀ If it’s your main life force, you may develop conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, and infections including inflammation in the body.⠀

Kapha⠀ This life force controls muscle growth, body strength and stability, weight, and your immune system.⠀ You can disrupt it by sleeping during the day, eating too many sweet and fried foods & eating or drinking things that contain too much salt or water.⠀ If it’s your main life energy, you may develop asthma, breathing disorders, nausea after eating, and obesity.⠀ *⠀ Thank you to – www.webmd.com/balance/guide/ayurvedic-treatments#1.

What is Triphala?

TRIPHALA is a balancing formula for Detoxification and Rejuvenation.

TRIPHALA has been used in traditional AYURVEDIC MEDICINE since ancient times.⠀

TRIPHALA is a combination of three Ayurvedic Fruits native to the Indian subcontinent: AMALAKI (Emblica officinalis), BIBHITAKI, (Terminalia belerica) and HARITAKI (Terminalia chebula). ⠀Also known as “Triphala Churna (powder),” it is one of the most popular formulas in Ayurveda and has many health benefits for all three of Ayurveda’s dosha constitutions – VATA, PITTA & KAPHA. To know your Dosha isn’t a prerequisite but knowing that Triphala has the ability to benefit all body types. ⠀

AMALAKI, BIBITAKI & HARITAKI can be found in our Ayurvedic Seasoning Mix range. The benefits of each of the 3 fruits are below -⠀

AMALAKI: Has a cooling effect that manages pitta, supporting the natural functions of the liver and the immune system.⠀

BIBHITAKI: Is particularly good for kapha, supporting the respiratory system as well as kapha accumulations in all systems.⠀

HARITAKI: Though having a heating nature, it is still good for all three doshas (vata, pitta, and kapha). Is known for its “scraping” effect, which removes toxins and helps maintain healthy levels of weight.⠀

Since Triphala supports healthy elimination, it is not uncommon to experience looser motions than usual. All of these reactions can be byproducts of cleansing. If your cleansing experience becomes too intense, you can stop taking triphala until the symptoms subside and restart using less, or simply reduce the amount you are ingesting. ⠀

Ayurveda treats a ‘dis-ease’ as a state where the person is not at ease with her intrinsic nature, which is defined by doshas. Get to know your Ayurvedic body type: Vata, Pitta and Kapha and realign your lifestyle to enjoy health. “www.soulguru.com”⠀

Example -⠀

KAPHA – if you are feeling heavy, slow, sluggish or lethargic….

VATA – if you are feeling nervous, worried, cold & your life & meals have become irregular & scattered due to your anxious feeling.⠀

PITTA – if you are feeling stressed, hot, bothered, impatient, overworked.⠀

MOST POPULAR MIX ” is our Vata Organic Seasoning Mix. With finding out about the customers health conditions, their diets & lifestyles & concluding that due to our busy lifestyles people in general are feeling more anxious, scattered with gut problems. They have suggested they have symptoms of bloating, wind & constipation. This can be due to diets not always being compatible with their bodies “healthy” or not! ⠀

With a SPRINKLE of Vata Seasoning onto your food or having a tsp with warm water after a meal will calm your mind & nervous system (with the Brahmi in the mix)…and with the carminative herbs & spices they will assist in digestion & stomach upsets. ⠀
